Aries at a glance
The zodiac’s natural starter
Aries is the first sign of the Western zodiac and is associated with initiative, courage and self-direction. People with strong Aries energy often feel most alive when beginning something, testing their ability or moving a good idea into action.
Ruled by Mars and expressed through the fire element, Aries tends to be direct, spirited and competitive. Its cardinal quality adds a strong urge to act. At its best, Aries turns enthusiasm into momentum and gives others permission to be brave.

Love & relationships
Aries brings warmth, candour and a sense of adventure to relationships. This sign usually appreciates clear signals and genuine enthusiasm rather than games or prolonged uncertainty. When interested, Aries is likely to show it.
Healthy relationships give Aries both closeness and breathing room. A partner who can communicate directly, enjoy spontaneity and stand confidently in their own identity helps the connection stay exciting and balanced.
Career & purpose
Aries often excels where initiative matters: entrepreneurship, leadership, sales, sport, emergency response, performance, advocacy and fast-growing teams. The exact profession matters less than having challenge, autonomy and a path to measurable progress.
The career lesson is to pair bold starts with patient systems. Collaboration, follow-through and strategic timing turn raw drive into lasting achievement.

Which Aries are you?
The three decans of Aries
Each sign is divided into three parts of about ten days, called decans. Each has its own co-ruling planet, which is why two people with the same sign can seem quite different.
First decan · Mar 21–30
Ruled by Mars alone. This is the most typical Aries, with plenty of drive, courage and impatience.
Second decan · Mar 31–Apr 9
Co-ruled by the Sun, the planet of Leo. It adds warmth, pride and a flair for drama to the Aries nature.
Third decan · Apr 10–19
Co-ruled by Jupiter, the planet of Sagittarius. It adds optimism, humour and wanderlust to the Aries nature.
Decan dates can shift by a day depending on the year.
