What your life path number means

Your life path number is the most important number in numerology. It is worked out from your full date of birth and describes your natural strengths, your challenges and the direction your life tends to take.

How it is calculated: add every digit of your birth date, then reduce the total. For 14 July 1990: 1+4+7+1+9+9+0 = 31, and 3+1 = 4. Totals of 11, 22 and 33 are master numbers and are not reduced.

How does the Birth Destiny calculator work?

Enter your date of birth and the calculator works out your Western star sign from the day and month, your Chinese zodiac animal and element from the lunar calendar, and your numerology life path number by adding the digits of your full birth date. Everything is calculated instantly in your browser.

Why is my Chinese zodiac sign different if I was born in January or February?

The Chinese zodiac follows the lunar calendar, and Lunar New Year falls between 21 January and 20 February. If you were born before it, you belong to the previous year’s animal. Someone born on 20 January 1990, for example, is a Snake rather than a Horse. The calculator checks this for you.

How do I calculate my life path number?

Add every digit of your birth date together, then keep adding the digits of the result until you reach a single digit. For 14 July 1990 that is 1+4+7+1+9+9+0 = 31, then 3+1 = 4. The exceptions are 11, 22 and 33, which are master numbers and are left as they are.

What is the difference between a star sign and a Chinese zodiac sign?

Your star sign comes from Western astrology and depends on the Sun’s position on your birthday, so it changes roughly once a month. Your Chinese zodiac sign depends on your birth year in the lunar calendar, where 12 animals and five elements combine in a 60-year cycle. Many people read the two side by side.

Is the Birth Destiny calculator free?

Yes. The birth date calculator is free and needs no sign-up, and the star sign, Chinese zodiac and numerology guides are free to read.
